You’ve heard it before, all men have. Sometimes it seems that for our whole lives women have been complaining that we never listen or pay attention to what they are saying.

As with most things, there is an amount of truth about this, but both men and women are guilty of not listening properly at times. There can be a lot of contributing factors to this, maybe you had a bad day at work, or you’re tired and don’t feel like listening.

A lot of people have difficulty listening because it requires some effort.Yes, that’s right, we are often lazy and don’t want to put in the effort in listening and digesting what’s being said.

Another reason that affects our listening is that we prefer to talk than to listen. We would much rather get the attention of someone listening to us, and the feeling that we are saying something important to someone else.


Sometimes this can be so strong that we neglect to listen to the other person. One time like this was when I was going to a meal with my girlfriend, she talked at me the whole way to the restaurant, but I was so hungry, I didn’t hear a word she said, after a while, I had to nod and pretend to be listening, even though all I could think about was what I was going to eat.


One thing that I have realized about listening though, is that if you pay attention to what they have to say, it often takes less time in the long run. Women seem to have a sense of when you’re not listening, and will repeat themselves again and again until you do.

Women are really bad for doing this, I think that to some extent they feel that if a man is listening to her, he is understanding and caring, and is interested in what she is saying. It can be hard to listen if she is constantly rabbiting, but it doesn’t have to be all hard work.

Look at her when she is speaking, and if you get bored, you can always look at her breasts. If you are a breast man, this can reinforce the reason you are with her in the first place, and if not, you’ll still get a good view.

Sometimes, conversation can be very stimulating. You can get to know each other better, and the more you learn about one another, the better your relationship will be. You never know, if she thinks you are a caring, sensitive man, you might get laid more often, and that can’t be bad can it?

You can improve your listening skills in several ways. Focus on what she is saying, and not your response. To put this another way, listen to what she is saying, and think about your reply once she has stopped. This might even help you in your replies, if your mind runs at a mile a minute, then you can respond about the last thing she said, not something 5 minutes ago.


Try asking questions, this is very helpful if you need help to keep focused. It is often tempting to ignore things that you don’t understand, but if you don’t know what she is talking about, ask her. Obviously, if she is talking about her period, you might not want too much information about that, but it’s a good general rule.
